TD Notes and News – Week of 10-2-23

TIMOTHY DWIGHT NOTES & NEWS

WEEK OF 10/2/2023

HL’S PIECES

Dear Red Lions,

Many thanks to Richard N. Rosenfeld TD ‘63, the namesake of Rosenfeld Hall (RH) for his rousing talk on the history of Yale.  His talk did not shy away from discussing the moments of Yale’s history when it failed abysmally to live up to its claims of light and truth.  A child of the Civil Rights era who was inspired by Civil Rights and peace activist William Sloane Coffin, Mr. Rosenfeld urged all of us to consider the importance of liberal arts education and the role of higher education in promoting social and racial justice.

Here is our “photo of the week” featuring Mr. Rosenfeld with President Peter Salovey.

TD is once again sponsoring the HAVEN 5k run this coming Sunday 10/8.  If you would like to join in the fun and support to provide free health care to New Haven residents, please go here to sign up using the code “TD 23” to sign-up for free.  Please make sure to use this code for the registration only, not the t-shirt.  As always, please do not share this with non-TD students.

The TD HoC Office is looking to hire another Web Aide to join the TD Aides team this year.  The Web Aides maintain our Airtable reservation system for TD spaces, event listings, and promotions on the TD website and Town Hall monitor.  In addition, the web aides provide as needed tech support for the TD HoC office.  Typically web aides do their work during their office shift(s) plus an additional hour per week outside of the office.  Web aides are also eligible to work any of TD special events.  For more information, please contact Kim Rogers in the TD HoC office at Kimberly.rogers@yale.edu or TD Co-Chief Aide, Bernice Wang, at Bernice.wang@yale.edu.

Because of Fall Fest, Mott’s Fall Apple Picking trip is getting rescheduled.  Please stay tuned for a new date.
