Residential Fellows

The Simon Family

Justin Simon is an Associate Head Coach with the Yale Men’s Basketball Team. He is Yale Class of ‘04, although sadly was in Grace Hopper College and not TD.

Tricia Simon is an Instructional Math Coach at East Rock Magnet School. She is better known for teaming up with our other residential fellow Sidiya to win the IM bocce ball championship and help deliver the 13th Tyng Cup in TD history.

Divera (10) and Daniel (6) love being a part of the TD community where they can be frequently found climbing the trees in the courtyard or eating all the cereal in the dining hall.

The Mbodj Family

The Mbodj Family

The Mbodj family (Amy, Sidiya, Aby Zahra, Dior Maryam) came to Yale in the summer of 2018 from Dakar, Senegal; joined TD Community in January 2020 shortly after Anna Fatoumata was born. Amy and Sidiya both work at the Yale School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases. Amy is an Associate Professor whose research is focused on malaria and works in Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Chad. Sidiya is a Research Assistant who studies African trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness) and manages the Tsetse fly colony at the Yale School of Public Health – the only colony in the Western Hemisphere! In addition to her research in the lab and mentoring students, Amy loves learning languages, coffee roasting (and drinking), pole vaulting, fencing (sabre), outdoor adventures, and learning to fly planes. Sidiya loves traveling, photography, and soccer and loves participating in as many IM sports teams as possible at TD (including the legendary 13th Tyng Cup team with Residential Fellow Tricia Simon!). One of the family’s favorite activities is working on the farm in Senegal and picking and eating lots of mangos.

Aby Zahra (10), Dior Maryam (8), Anna Fatoumata (4) love running, dancing, art, star gazing, baking, mud puddles, dinosaurs, insects, camping, and playing outside – especially in the snow! The also love zooming around the TD courtyard on their bikes and scooters (look out!) and meeting new TD student best friends in the dining hall and courtyard.

We are so happy to be a part of the TD community and look forward to meeting everyone!
