Notes and News - Week of January 20, 2020

January 22, 2020
Dear Red Lions,

I hope everyone had a great MLK Day and checked out the schedule of events.  Please know this Wednesday will be the second part of the MLK Commemoration address, “Faith in the People,” with Nikki Giovanni at Woolsey Hall starting at 5:30pm.  For a full calendar of events, please go to the events website.

Our “photo of the week” comes from TD senior Won Jung and captures a great Senior Sushi Night this evening, toasting the class of 2023 with sushi, sake, and beer!  So wonderful to be able to start out the spring semester with this wonderful celebration!

Please note that our second session of the Fireside Chats for TD ’23 is set for this Wednesday night in the TD House.  Please come through the courtyard and through the iron gates to access the house. We repeat the same themes from session 1 – “My Two Homes,” “Academics Roundup,” and “Changes and Choices.  If you still need to sign up, please go to this Doodle link.
Here are some exciting events for next week:

We resume with our senior Mellon Forum series with great presentations and food!  Come celebrate the work of your senior class!

Tuesday 1/28 8-10pm TD Spring Community Night (TD Dining Hall)

The Community Night sign-ups are now out!  Please go to this link to sign up.  All TD ers are welcome to perform and we can’t wait to see what the spring brings!  TD Class of 2020, if this has been on your senior bucket list, then sign up now!  We will make every effort to get you onto the program!  As usual be ready for a very, very fun night celebrating the humor, spirit, and talents of the TD community!

Saturday 2/1 5:30am Departure Mott Ski Trip to Mt. Snow

It looks like our sign-ups are now full for the ski trip!  All who signed up will be getting additional information from Mott Woolley President, Angel Mora, so be on the lookout for that information.  For any first years and sophomores who did not get on, we are sorry that we could not fit you in this time, but please know that we’ll run this trip again in 2022!  So it will happen again before you graduate!

Sunday 2/2 IRIS Run for Refugees

We are excited to support this year’s IRIS  Run for Refugees.  Race begins at the base of East Rock Park, at Wilbur Cross High School.  In case there are still free entries left, you can go to the registration link and enter the TD-IRIS20 code.  Last day for online registration is 2/1.

Dean Mahurin will send out tomorrow a separate note on important deadlines for the week.  Also, I will be announcing our Spring 2020 Chubb Fellow this week… so please stay tuned!

Àshe,
HL
