TIMOTHY DWIGHT NOTES & NEWS

WEEK OF 3/14/22

HL’S PIECES

Dear Red Lions,

We are finally headed into Spring Break!  So let’s finish out this week strong and get some great rest!

Our “photo of the week” comes from TD Junior Megha Joshi who was awarded a Creative Performing Arts grant from TD to bring back this year’s Dhamaal showcase in Woolsey Hall that featured dance groups (Yale Rangeela, Yale Kalaa, Yale Jashan Bhangra, Monstr-RAAS-ity) and many solo performers.  Here is Megha along with TD first-year Yash Roy along with their fellow members of the South Asia Society board.

Also performing were TDers Jai Chadha, Akash Chakka, Ishikaa Kothari, Angelin Matthews, Raj Pandya, Tulsi Patel, Ananya Rajagopalan, and Varun Varanasi.  Apologies if I’ve missed anyone.  Congratulations on a job well done!

Many thanks to AACC PL Sophia Lee and Kitchen Aide Grace MacDonald for a great Instant Ramen Night, the first of hopefully many more such nights.  Still plenty more flavors and brands to try!

Spring break starts this Friday evening but the good news is that the TD Dining Hall will stay open this break.  Four additional college dining halls will remain open for the week: Branford, Saybrook, Davenport, and Jonathan Edwards.

I hope you all saw the note about picking up COVID-19 viral test kits this week from the TD Package Room.  You’ll need to have your ID and sign out your kit.  Please make sure to pick up the kit by this Friday 5/18 since the HoC offices will be closed for Spring Break.  You’ll also need to download the testing app and follow the instructions linked here.  Please email TD Operations Manager, Zina Anwar, at thunziner.anwar@yale.edu if you have any questions.  Here are the hours of the TD Package Room for this week:

Monday - Friday: 11:30am-4:00pm
Saturday: 12:00pm-2:00pm
Sunday: closed

We do not have any events coming up this week as we wind down for break.  But please put on your calendar a tea with Olivia John, Founder and CEO of Osso Capital that will take place on Thursday 3/31 at 4pm at 53 Wall Street in Room 208.  Prior to starting Osso, John was the Managing Director on the Real Estate Acquisitions team at Blacksone, where she worked in the NY and London offices from 2007 to 2020 and directed investing efforts number $12 billion of acquisitions.  John is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where she received a BS in Economics and was a Joseph Wharton Scholar.  There will be an opportunity for 10 students to have dinner with Olivia John after the tea.  This event is co-sponsored with Yale’s Investments Office.

Without further ado, here is a word from Dean Mahurin…

Àshe,

HL
