Hope you are enjoying these last few days of September as we shift into autumn and October!  

Our “photo of the week” is from Tina Huang TD ‘26.  She (middle), along with Rifat Islam TD ‘23 (right) and Samuel Chen TD ’26 (left), participated in the Asian American Cultural Center (AACC) retreat at the YMCA Camp Woodstock this past weekend.

I am delighted to say that all of our TD spaces have reopened and the new reservations system seems to be humming!!! Many thanks to our hardworking TD aides and staff for launching this new reservations platform and holding Open Houses. Here are some photos celebrating our reopenings:

Here are some more important TD events and dates for the next two weeks:

Tuesday 9/28 5:30-6:30pm Senior Mellon Forum Pizza/beer Information Kickoff (TD Upper Courtyard)

Information session for TD senior lions who are interested in applying for Mellon senior thesis funding and presenting at the Senior Mellon Forum this year.  The Mellon Forum is organized by our wonderful Mellon Coordinators Alex Werrell TD ’13 and Devin Lau TD ’09 and feature presentations from TD seniors working on senior thesis or independent research projects in all fields and majors.  Quick reminder that all 2022 senior lions who received a Richter are required to present.  Tuesday’s info session will feature pizza from one of the classic Wooster Square establishments and beer and water will be provided.   

Friday 9/30 12-2pm TD Sustainability Kick-off (TD Upper Courtyard)

Our Sustainability Liaisons, Peyton Meyer TD ‘24 and Selin Goren TD ‘24, will be hosting a sustainability pledge and plant raffle.  Come learn about their efforts to promote sustainability in the college and see how you can do your part!  Treats from Claire’s will be provided.

Saturday 10/1 Meet Your YCC Representatives Over Donuts!! (11:00am - 1:00pm) TD Common Room
 
Stop by the TD Common Room during Brunch on Saturday morning to meet with your YCC representatives including new Delegates, FCC council members Christian Baca ‘26 and August Rios 26, and Senators Kyle Shepherd ‘25 and Ryan Smith ‘24. Offer them your input on Yale University policies and on planning fun school-wide events for your class. And pick up a free donut while they last! 

Thursday 10/6 4:30pm TD Tea with April Koh TD ’16, CEO/Founder of Spring Health (TD House)

Come meet TD alum who has been named Forbes 30 Under 30 2018!  Hear April talk about her journey to becoming the CEO and Co-Founder of Spring Health, a comprehensive health benefit for employers and health plans, that is currently valued at more than $2 billion.  To follow public health and safety protocols we are capping attendance at 35.  We will prioritize TDers and seating will be first-come, first-served.  April has graciously offered to stay for dinner in the TD Dining Hall following her tea.  If you would like to join her for dinner, please sign up at this link.

Saturday 10/8 TD 4-5:30pm Family Weekend Reception 

We are delighted to welcome your families and friends to campus for our first in-person family weekend in 2 years!  TD will be hosting a reception in the college so please stop by for some delicious refreshments.  It will be a delight to meet/reconnect with your families!

SPLASH AT YALE
Interested in sharing your passions with high schoolers?

Splash at Yale is an educational outreach organization that runs a program each semester for students from all over the Northeast.  All of the classes are taught by Yale students, and cover all sorts of topics ranging from The Geography of Happiness to Epigenetics to The Fibonacci Sequence to An Introduction to Skepticism. Teaching is a small time commitment but has a huge impact on our students!  
 
On October 29th, we will be holding our first in-person program of Splash since 2019, where middle and high school students from all over the country will come take classes from Yale students like you. Teacher registration for Splash is currently open. Our deadline for teacher registration is THIS SUNDAY September 25th. If you’re interested in learning more, please visit our website or email us at yalesplash@gmail.com. If you make an account on our website, you’ll also be added to our mailing list and will get a reminder email when it’s time to register for Splash! We hope to see you at Splash!

BA/BS-MPH PROGRAM
There will be an information session for the BA-BS/MPH Program (https://ysph.yale.edu/school-of-public-health/graduate-programs/mph-joint-degree/5-year-ba-bs-mph/) on Thursday, September 29th at 5:00 P.M. in Winslow Auditorium, 60 College Street. Topics to be covered include the academic requirements, the concentrations of study and the admission process. The program director and current students will also be available to answer questions.
