TIMOTHY DWIGHT NOTES & NEWS

WEEK OF 12/5/22

HL’S PIECES

Dear Red Lions,

We are at the last week of classes!!!    I hope all the winter holiday decorating has brought some good cheer as we finish out these last weeks of papers and finals.  Many thanks to everyone for coming out and lending a hand and an artistic eye to make our Common Room light up!

Speaking of artistic eye… I am sharing a belated “photo of the week” from our TD Art Studio Aides, Alex Yu ’25 and Naomi Sellers ’24, featuring Senior Eric Jimenez who made this great friendship bracelet at the last study break.

And here is one more of the creations by Mia Rodriques-Vars ‘25 …

For their last study break of the semester, the art studio is once again hosting a Gingerbread House making on Saturday 12/10, 7-9pm just after our special Holiday dinner.  Space is limited to 20 participants, to sign up for a spot please go to this link.

As we head into Reading Week and Finals, please know that our TD student spaces will be closing up so that our TD Aides can concentrate on their work and finish out the semester strong.  So please note that the TD Buttery closes after this Thursday 12/8 and our TD Student Kitchen will close after this Sunday 12/11, with last reservation ending at 11pm that evening

Don’t worry, folks, your TD SAC will be offering an array of late night food study breaks for Reading Week and the TD HoC office will have pizza to cover your cravings for the rest of the finals period.  So no one will go hungry!  We will aim to finalize the study break schedule by this Friday 12/9.

Here are some wonderful events for the next two weeks:

Monday 12/5 8:30pm Cookie Baking with the TD Grad Affiliates (Student Kitchen)

Join Audrey, Vanessa, and Saahil for some delicious fresh baked cookies.  Whether you bake or just eat you will enjoy getting to know our wonderful TD Grad Affiliates!

Thursday 12/8 10pm TD Buttery Closing Blowout Sale (TD Buttery)

Yes, folks our amazing Buttery is staffed by TD students.  As superhuman as they appear making those egg sandwiches and working the fryer they need to return to their daytime lives as students.  Don’t despair… before they close they will be having a blowout sale on all remaining perishable items to clear out their inventory before break.  So stop by to check out their scrumptious deals.  They look forward to serving up some more delicious grub for y’all next semester!

Friday 12/9 8pm “A Soldier’s Play” (Shubert Theater)

Thank you to everyone who signed up!  The lottery is now closed.  I plan to send out the final results by tomorrow morning.  Folks will have 24 hours to claim their ticket from the TD HoC office.  After that, they will be up for grabs to anyone on the waitlist.

Saturday 12/10 TD Holiday Dinner (TD Dining Hall) & First-Year Dinner (Commons)

I hope you have all seen the delicious menu circulating for this year’s holiday dinner – raw bar, Family dinner protocol will be in effect so only TD students will be invited to this dinner.  Off-campus Lions may eat for free.  If you do not have your TD sticker, please come to the TD office during business hours to get one.  First-year lions, you will get to partake in the “Parade of Comestibles” at Commons.  Doors open at 4:30pm.  Please make sure to pick up your wristband from the TD HoC office during business hours, 9-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Saturday 12/10 7-9pm Gingerbread House Making (TD Art Studio)

Join the art studio aides for this TD tradition.  Your creations are yours to take back to your suite or put on display in the Thompson Room to join the festive decorations of the season.  Space is limited to 20 so please sign up through this Google form to enter the lottery.

Without further ado, here is a word from Dean Mahurin…

Àshe,
HL
