Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope all of you enjoyed your winter break and are ready to get started with the new semester!
This week’s “photo of the week” is from Tongil Ko ’18 and is titled “Welcome to Mary-Kay!” Mary-Kay Kaminski is temporarily filling in for Karen McGovern, our beloved senior administrator in the Head of College Office. Karen is recuperating from knee surgery and will be back in February. Please give Mary-Kay a warm TD welcome!
All of you should have received President Salovey’s MLK Day note yesterday. Please note tonight the Dining Hall will be doing a special “Breaking Bread” dinner in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King that will feature “world cuisine”.
Next Wednesday evening will be the 2018 MLK Keynote Address with Bree Newsome for her talk titled “Chaos or Community: Fifty Years Later, Where Do We Go from Here?”
We have quite a few events going on this month especially for the seniors! But, we have events for all 4 classes this month. For all First Years, Dean Mahurin and I are inviting you to participate in Fireside Chats at the TD house either this Wednesday 1/17 or Monday 1/22. You should have all signed up for a time already! TD sophomores please save the date ofWednesday 2/7 for your Sophomore Dinner in the TD House from 6-7:30pm. And TD juniors, I look forward to working with you to plan a TD 2019 event for the spring!
TD Spring Community Night is scheduled for Monday January 29th from 8:30-10:30pm. We will send out information for sign-ups soon so keep an eye out!
We also have a lot going on in February! We will run the Mott Woolley TD Ski Trip on Saturday 2/3. And we are sponsoring 20 TDers to participate in the IRIS Run for Refugees 5K on Sunday 2/4.

This semester, I will hold my TD office hours on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 1:30-3:30pm. Please email me to make an appointment!

Thursday 1/18 6-7:30pm Senior Sushi Night (TD House)
Calling on TD seniors! We celebrate your last semester at Yale with a wonderful sushi dinner courtesy of the chefs from Sono Bana. They will be back in the house rolling their special creations! No rsvp needed!
Monday 1/22 4pm Creative and Performing Arts (CPA) Deadline
If you are planning to submit a CPA proposal for this semester, please make sure to get into the system by the 4pm deadline. Please note anyone interested in applying should send me an email at mary.lui@yale.edu to make an appointment to discuss the proposal.
Tuesday 1/23 7-8:30pm Wine Tasting with David Swensen (TD House)
David Swensen, Chief Investment Officer at Yale, has graciously offered to host a red wine tasting with TD seniors! We will be sampling wines from France, California, and Spain. There is space for 25 seniors to join us. If you are interested please go to this link to sign up.

UPCOMING DATES AND DEADLINES:
Last day for students in the Class of 2018 to petition for permission to compete the requirements of two majors.
Withdrawal from Yale College on or before this date entitles a student to a full rebate of spring-term tuition. See Undergraduate Regulations.
CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
PRESIDENT’S PUBLIC SERVICE FELLOWSHIP
- Fellowship awards range from $4,950 to $7,800 based on experience, degree pending and weeks worked.
- Fellowship placements range from 8-11 weeks from the end of May through August.
- All students may apply for placements proposed by local non-profit and public sector organizations that are posted on the PPSF website.
Yale-coordinated Domestic and International Internship opportunities for summer 2018 are available in Yale Career Link. These programs offer internships in a variety of locations and fields. Please note: a) students have 5 (five) business days to accept an offer once it is extended (unless otherwise set by the employer), and b) applications are due Friday, January 26. Check listings each week as more opportunities are posted.
Collaborate with alumni, employers, and students to manage activities and plan events for students living and working in these cities during summer 2018. Search for “Yale Summer Events” (use quotation marks) in Yale Career Link to apply. Contact Stephanie Waite with questions.
