TIMOTHY DWIGHT NOTES & NEWS

WEEK OF 2/12/2024

HL’S PIECES

Dear Red Lions,

We had a tremendous couple of days with our Chubb Fellow, Jill Ellis, former coach of the US Women’s National Soccer Team and the President of the San Diego Waves!  I think this “photo of the week” from Yale Athletics Director Vicky Chun gives you all a taste of the wonderful Chubb dinner in the TD Dining Hall!

And here is one more from Chubb coordinator, KC Mills, of Jill with Handsome Dan himself.

We will be posting the video of our conversation at SOM and the photographs taken throughout the day on our Chubb Fellowship website so please stay tuned!

Hard to believe but we’re only about 3 months or 100 days out from graduation!  So it’s time to create our TD senior class committee!!! As with TD tradition, our chief aides, Bernice Wang and Jai Chadha, will chair the committee to work on events for senior week and the TD gift to the graduating class.  Senior Lion Demi Lee will be spearheading the TD senior class video to be shown at senior dinner.  To join them on the committee, please email them at jai.chadha@yale.edu or Bernice.wang@yale.edu by this Friday at 11:59pm.  We aim to have our first planning meeting next week.

Speaking of our Senior Lions, here is a photo of our seniors who joined with over 3,000 runners in this past Sunday’s IRIS 5k!  Well done, everyone!

Thanks to everyone who came out for last Tuesday night’s listening session on the search for the next TD HoC.  If you couldn’t make it please feel free submit feedback via this survey.

Here are some important dates and events for this week and next:

Without further ado, here is a word from Dean Mahurin…

Àshe,
HL

Cynthia in the Snow

Gwendolyn Brooks

It shushes.
It hushes.

The loudness in the road.
It flitter-twitters,
And laughs away from me.
It laughs a lovely whiteness,
And whitely whirls away,
To be
Some otherwhere,
Still white as milk or shirts,
So beautiful it hurts.
