Notes and News – Week of 11-30

ML’s Pieces

Dear Red Lions,

This Monday’s Notes and News is extremely light as this is a very short week.  Many of you are probably locked in the final exams twilight zone or on your way home to rest.  But here are 2 quick announcements:

Creative Performing Arts (CPA) Awards Deadline – Tuesday, January 19 at 4pm

These awards ranging from a few hundred to over a thousand dollars support student art related productions.  This cycle covers awards for the spring semester.  Go to http://creativeandperformingarts.yale.edu/ for more information.  Students will be notified by Februrary 3rd.

TD CD 2016 Call for submissions

This musical CD project is recorded and produced entirely by TD students in our very own recording studio in the TD underground.  Whether you wrote a song that you want to record with one of our amazing certified engineers or just really want to cover that Jonas Brothers song, the CD team can make your dreams come true.  They will be accepting submissions for the CD from now until a couple of weeks after break so feel free to send a demo track (iPhone recording or more!) toJordan.plotner@yale.edu.  For freshfolk who have not heard the TD CD, here is a link to last year’s amazing compilation:  https://timothydwightcollegemusic.bandcamp.com/track/td-cd-promo

As we wind down this exam season, I leave you with this week’s “photo of the week.”  Titled “Puzzlers,” the photo shows the freshman, sophomore, and junior teamwork at play.  Pictured from top right hand corner and going clockwise are Andrew Spinelli ‘18, Alex Swanson ’18, Janice Poon ‘17, Kate Berry ‘17, Khyber Sheppard ‘18, and Thomas Zhang ’19 all working for the common goal of conquering the one and only Timothy Dwight College puzzle. Ok, folks… just blue sky left!  Who is up for the challenge!!!

With this short “Notes and News,” there will be no “Dean’s Domain” this week.  Dean Mahurin will email registration information and deadlines to all of you in early January.

As we bid farewell to the fall 2015 semester, Dean Mahurin and I want to wish all of you a safe and restful break.  We can’t wait to see all of you in the New Year.  May 2016 be glorious!

Áshe,

ML
